Volunteers Needed

Walnut Street Baptist Church Activities Building
1101 South 3rd Street, Louisville, KY 40203
9 am - 12 Noon

Internationals have come to Louisville from around the world. They come from all walks of life. They are students, healthcare workers, business people, and refugees. Many bring their families with them. Some internationals have come because they have family members who already live here in the area.  Friendship International provides opportunities to Discover New Friendships, Improve Conversational English, Develop Creative Skills, Learn about American Culture, and Increase World Awareness.

If you would like to volunteer, please contact Donna Martin at (502) 244-0864.

NEEDED: TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE FOR A MINISTRY TO REFUGEES & IMMIGRANTS - Would you like to help refugees and immigrants gain skills in speaking English without ever having to teach a class? COFFEE, a ministry of Refuge with volunteers from multiple LRBA and other area churches, is in significant need of transportation help for our growing ESL (English as a Second Language) ministry. Cars and vans will work, though a church bus or van would be wonderful! Volunteers would ideally pick up area students and children, dropping them off at FOREST BAPTIST CHURCH on Tuesday evenings by 6:30 pm and taking them home at the programs conclusion at 8:30 pm. If you are able to help with this need, please contact Andy Sabaka at andy.sabaka@gmail.com or Jim Gray at jfgray56@gmail.com.

Kendall Optometry Ministry (KOM) is an outgrowth of the Christian outreach of Fern Creek Baptist Church.  It is a non-profit corporation started in 2003.

The ministry ships nearly 100,000 measured used prescription glasses to teams traveling to countries all over the world. These glasses are provided free to impoverished people in these countries.

We need volunteers to measure donated glasses. We provide equipment, supplies, and training in your home. Glasses measured will be checked and verified by an employee of KOM.

We also need people to sort through donated glasses to determine their usability and prepare them to be measured.  Detailed instructions are available for this process.

If you can help us, or if you know of someone who would be willing to help, please contact Sam Frizzell at 502-645-7792 or Holland Kendall at 502-640-2227.  For more information about the ministry visit  http://kom-inc.org
